How to train Tire Pressure Monitor Sensor TPMS?
1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position, then depress and release the brake pedal.
2. Cycle the ignition switch from the OFF position to the RUN position 3 times to the RUN position.
3. Depress and release the brake pedal.
4. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
5. Turn the ignition switch from the OFF (off) position to the RUN (run) position three times and finally to the RUN position. Tips: If the training mode is successfully entered, the horn will sound once and the TPMS indicator will flash. If equipped, the message centre will display TRAIN LF TIRE
6. Place the tire pressure monitor activation tool on the left (driver's side) front tire side of the valve stem. Press and release the test button on the TPMS tool repeatedly until the horn beeps. (It may take 6 seconds for the tool to activate the sensor, leave the tool on the sidewall for 6 seconds). The horn beeps to indicate that the body control module has recognized the TPMS sensor.
7. Within 2 minutes after the horn sounding to confirm LF tire programming, Place the TPMS tool on the right (passenger side) front tire side of the valve stem and press the test button to activate the sensor.
8. Repeat step 7 for the right rear tire and then the left rear tire. The procedure is complete when the last tire has been trained. When the training is complete, the message center (if equipped) will display TIRE training complete. For vehicles not equipped with an information center, turn the key to the OFF position, the horn does not sound. If the horn beeps twice when the switch is turned OFF, the training procedure was unsuccessful.
Notice:
1. NOTE: If the vehicle or wheels/sensors are stationary for more than 30 minutes, the sensors will go into "sleep mode" to conserve battery power. Before they can communicate with the vehicle, it is necessary to wake them up by moving them or rolling the tires.
2. NOTE: The TPMS training procedure must be performed one vehicle at a time, in an area free of radio frequency interference – at least 3 feet away from other vehicles equipped with TPMS sensors.
3. Note: Vehicles with different front and rear tire pressures, such as F-Series trucks and E-Series vans, also require TPMS retraining after tire rotation. Failure to train the sensor will cause the TPMS warning light on the dash to come on.
